The Achievement Exhibition and Performance Event for the First Indigenous People’s Holidays Preschool Curriculum for 2024

The Achievement Exhibition and Performance Event for the First Indigenous People’s Holidays Preschool Curriculum for 2024

“Speak Kari nami Loudly”

Welcome everyone to join us in this grand event

To provide indigenous children aged 3 to 6 years old living in urban areas with a diverse learning environment, and to introduce them to their own indigenous culture and language during their crucial early developmental years, the Indigenous Peoples' Commission of the Taipei City Government has organized the First Indigenous People’s Holidays Preschool Curriculum for 2024 at Beiyuan Community Center in Nanguang District, running from March 9 to June 29, 2024. The Commission also schedules to organize the achievement exhibition and performance event on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 1:30 pm at the Social Innovation Lab (No. 99, Section 3, Ren'ai Rd, Da’an District, Taipei City).

The curriculum for this period has not only included the cultural and linguistic learning of Taiwan’s legally recognized indigenous ethnic groups but also integrated Plains Indigenous peoples (Siraya, Tokas) into the teaching content. This enables the children to learn about the diverse Austronesian ethnic groups, while enhancing their ethnic identity and cultural sensitivity. Themed on “Speak Kari nami Loudly”, the curriculum for this term emphasizes young children’s ability to speak in their respective indigenous languages. It is our aspiration that every child will, through this holiday preschool curriculum, speak more confidently and courageously in their mother tongue.

The upcoming exhibition and performance event will showcase children's lively musical and dance performances, along with indigenous folk songs and displays of their creative works developed during the curriculum. The venue will feature interactive family booths, extending the theme of the 16-week program and offering themed activities for parents and children to enjoy together. Videos documenting the children's learning journey and highlights from this term will also be presented, providing insight into their progress for both children and guests to appreciate.

Whether it is the lively dancing and singing performances or the static exhibition of their works, we hope parents will deeply appreciate the joy and significance of this indigenous holiday preschool curriculum. We sincerely invite parents and guests to join us in witnessing the children's fruitful achievements.
